أَللَّهُمَّ إنَّ هذَيْن آيَتَانِ مِنْ آياتِكَ،

allāhumma innahā dhāni āyatānin min āyātika

O God, these are two of Thy signs

---

وَهذَين عَوْنَانِ مِنْ أَعْوَانِكَ

wa-hadha-yin ʿawnan min aʿwānika

and these are two of Thy helpers.

---

يَبْتَدِرَانِ طَاعَتَكَ بِرَحْمَة نَافِعَة أَوْ نَقِمَة ضَارَّة،

yabtadiraani taa'atak biraḥmatin naafi'atin aw naqimatin ḍaarratin

They rush to obey Thee with beneficial mercy or injurious vengeance,

---

فَلاَ تُمْطِرْنَا بِهِمَا مَطَرَ السَّوْءِ،

fala tu'mṭirna bihima maṭar al-saw'i

so rain not down upon us from them the evil rain

---

وَلا تُلْبِسْنَـا بِهِمَا لِبَاسَ الْبَلاَءِ.

walā tulbisnā bihimā libāsa al-balāʾ

and clothe us not through them in the garment of affliction!

---

صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ

ṣalli ʿalā muḥammad wa ālih

O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,

---

وَأَنْزِلْ عَلَيْنَا نَفْعَ هَذِهِ السَّحَائِبِ وَبَرَكَتَهَا،

wa anzil ʿalayna nafʿa hadhihi as-sahāʾib wa barakataha

send down upon us the benefit of these clouds and their blessing,

---

وَاصْرِفْ عَنَّا أَذَاهَا وَمَضَرَّتَهَا،

waṣrif ʿannā aḏāhā wamaḍarrahā

turn away from us their harm and their injury,

---

وَلا تُصِبْنَا فِيْهَا بآفَة،

walā tuṣibnā fīhā bi-āfah

strike us not through them with blight,

---

وَلا تُرْسِلْ عَلَى مَعَايِشِنَا عَاهَةً.

wa lā tur-sil ʿalā maʿāyishi-nā ʿāha-tan

and loose not upon our livelihoods any bane!

---

أللَّهُمَّ وَإنْ كُنْتَ بَعَثْتَهَا نَقِمَةً وَأَرْسَلْتَهَا سَخْطَةً

allāhumma wa in kunt bʿath tahā naqimatan wa arsal tahā sakhtan

O God, if Thou hast incited them as vengeance and loosed them in anger,

---

فَإنَّا نَسْتَجِيْرُكَ مِنْ غَضَبِكَ،

fa'innā nastajīruka min ghaḍabika

we seek sanctuary with Thee from Thy wrath

---

وَنَبْتَهِلُ إلَيْكَ فِي سُؤَالِ عَفْوِكَ،

wa nabtahilu ilayka fi suali afwik

and implore Thee in asking Thy pardon!

---

فَمِلْ بِالْغَضَبِ إلَى الْمُشْـركِينَ،

famir bil-ghaḍab ilā al-mushrikīn

So incline with wrath toward the idolaters

---

وَأَدِرْ رَحَى نَقِمَتِـكَ عَلَى الْمُلْحِـدينَ.

wa adir rahā naqimatik ʿalā al-mulhidīn

and set the millstone of Thy vengeance turning upon the heretics

---

أللَّهُمَّ أَذْهِبْ مَحْلَ بِلاَدِنَا بِسُقْيَاكَ،

allāhumma adhhib maḥla bilādinā bi suqyāka

O God, take away the barrenness of our lands with Thy watering,

---

وَأَخْرِجْ وَحَرَ صُدُورِنَا بِرِزْقِكَ،

wa'akhrij waḥara ṣudūrinā birizqik

dislodge the malice from our breasts with Thy providing,

---

وَلاَ تَشْغَلْنَا عَنْكَ بِغَيْرِكَ،

wa lā tašġalnā ʿank bighayrika

distract us not from Thee through other than Thee,

---

وَلاَ تَقْطَعْ عَنْ كَافَّتِنَا مَادَّةَ بِرِّكَ،

wa lā taqṭaʿ ʿan kāffatinā māddata birrikah

and cut none of us off from the stuff of Thy goodness,

---

فَإنَّ الغَنِيَّ مَنْ أَغْنَيْتَ،

fa'innal-ghaniyya man agnayta

for the rich is he to whom Thou hast given riches,

---

وَإنَّ السَّالِمَ مَنْ وَقَيْتَ،

wa-inna al-salima man waqayta

and the safe he whom Thou hast protected!

---

مَا عِنْدَ أَحَد دُونَكَ دِفَـاعٌ،

ma ʿinda ʾaḥad dūnaka difāʿun

No one has any defense against Thee,

---

وَلاَ بِأَحَد عَنْ سَطْوَتِكَ امْتِنَاعٌ،

walā bi'aḥad ʿan satwatika imtināʿ

nor any means to bar Thy penalty.

---

تَحْكُمُ بِمَا شِئْتَ عَلَى مَنْ شِئْتَ،

taḥkumu bimā shi'ta ʿalā man shi'ta

Thou decidest what Thou wilt for whom Thou wilt

---

وَتَقْضِي بِمَـا أَرَدْتَ فِيمَنْ أَرَدْتَ.

wa taqḍī bimā aradta fīman aradta

and Thou decreest what Thou desirest for any whom Thou desirest!

---

فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلَى مَا وَقَيْتَنَا مِنَ الْبَلاءِ،

falaka al-ḥamdu ʿalā mā waqaīṭanā min al-balāʾi

So to Thee belongs praise for protecting us from affliction

---

وَلَكَ الشُّكْرُ عَلَى مَا خَوَّلْتَنَا مِنَ النّعْمَاءِ

wa laka al-shukru ʿalā mā khawwaltnā mina al-naʿmāʾ

and to Thee belongs thanks for conferring upon us blessings,

---

حَمْداً يُخَلِّفُ حَمْدَ الْحَامِدِينَ وَرَاءَهُ،

ḥamdan yukhallifu ḥamda al-ḥāmidīn wa-rāʾahu

a praise which will leave behind the praise of the praisers,

---

حَمْداً يَمْلاُ أَرْضَهُ وَسَمَاءَهُ

ḥamdān yamlu arḍahu wa samāʾahu

a praise which will fill the earth and the heaven!

---

إنَّـكَ الْمَنَّانُ بِجَسِيمِ الْمِنَنِ،

'innaka al-mannānu bi-jasīmi al-minan

Surely Thou art the All-kind through immense kindnesses,

---

الْوَهَّابُ لِعَظِيمِ النِّعَمِ،

al-wahhābu liʿaẓīmi al-niʿami

the Giver of abounding favours,

---

القَابِلُ يَسِيْرَ الْحَمْدِ،

al-qabilu yasir al-hamd

the Accepter of small praise,

---

الشَّاكِرُ قَلِيْلَ الشُّكْرِ،

al-shākiru qalīla al-shukri

the Grateful for little gratitude,

---

الْمُحْسِنُ الْمُجْمِلُ ذُو الطَّوْلِ

al-muḥsinu al-mujmilu dhū al-ṭawli

the Beneficent, the Benevolent, Possessor of graciousness!

---

لا إلهَ إلاّ أَنْتَ إلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ.

lā ʾilāha illā anta ʾilayka al-maṣīr

There is no god but Thou; unto Thee is the homecoming
