bismillāh al-raḥmān al-raḥīm

In the Name of ALLAH, the All-merciful, the All-compassionate

---

أَلْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي

أَحْيَانَا وَأَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

Praise belongs to ALLAH,

---

أَذْهَبَ اللَّيْلَ مُظْلِمَاً بِقُدْرَتِهِ،

adhhaba allaylu muẓliman bi qudratihi

who has taken away the shadowy night by His power

---

وَجآءَ بِالنَّهارِ مُبْصِراً بِرَحْمَتِهِ،

wa ja'a bil-nahāri mubṣiran bi-raḥmatihi

and brought the sight-giving day through His mercy.

---

وَكَسانِي ضِيآءَهُ وَآتانِي نِعْمَتَهُ.

wa kasani ḍiyāʾahu wa ātānī niʿmatahu

He has clothed me in its brightness and given me its favour.

---

أَللَّهُمَّ فَكَما أَبْقَيْتَنِي لَهُ فَأَبْقِنِي لاَِمْثالِهِ،

allāhumma fakama abqaytanī lah fa-abqinī lā'amlālih

O ALLAH, just as Thou hast spared me for this day, so also spare me for its likes,

---

وَصَلِّ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ،

waṣalli ʿalā an-nabī muḥammad wa ālih

bless the prophet MUHAMMAD and his Household,

---

وَلا تَفْجَعْنِي فِيهِ وَفِي غَيْرِهِ مِنَ اللَّيالِي وَالاَيَّامِ بِارْتِكابِ الْمَحارِمِ، وَاكْتِسابِ الْمَاثِمِ،

walā tafjaʿnī fīhi wa fī ghayrihi mina al-layālī wa al-ayyām bi-irtikābi al-maḥārimi

torment me not in it and in other nights and days by allowing me to commit unlawful acts and to clothe myself in sins;

---

وَارْزُقْنِي خَيْرَهُ، وَخَيْرَ ما فِيهِ، وَخَيْرَ ما بَعْدَهُ،

warzuqni khayrahu, wa khayra ma fihi, wa khayra ma baʿdahu

provide me with its good, the good of all within it, and the good of everything after it;

---

وَاصْرِفْ عَنِّي شَرَّهُ، وَشَرَّ ما فِيهِ، وَشَرَّ ما بَعْدَهُ.

waṣrif ʿannī sharrahū, wa sharra mā fīhi, wa sharra mā baʿdahu

and turn away from me its evil, the evil of all within it, and the evil of everything after it!.

---

أَللَّهُمَّ إنِّي

allāhumma innī

O ALLAH,

---

بِذِمَّةِ الاِسْلامِ أَتَوَسَّلُ إلَيْكَ،

bi-dhimmah al-islām atawassalu ilayka

by the protective compact of Islam, I seek mediation with Thee!

---

وَبِحُرْمَةِ الْقُرْآنِ أَعْتَمِدُ عَلَيْكَ،

wa bi ḥurmati al-qur'āni aʿtamidu ʿalayk

by the inviolability of the Qur'an, I rely upon Thee!

---

وَبِمُحَمَّد الْمُصْطَفى صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِهِ أَسْتَشْفِعُ لَدَيْكَ،

wa bi-muḥammadin al-muṣṭafā ṣallā allāhu ʿalayhi wa-ālihi astashfiʿu ladayka

By MUHAMMAD the chosen (ALLAH bless him and his Household), I seek intercession with Thee

---

فَاعْرِفِ اللَّهُمَّ ذِمَّتِي الَّتِي رَجَوْتُ بِها قَضآءَ حاجَتِي،

faʿrifi allahumma dhimmata llati rajawtu biha qada'a ḥājati

So recognize my protective compact by which I hope my need will be granted,

---

يا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.

yā ar-ḥama ar-rāḥimīn

O Most Merciful of the merciful!

---

أَللَّهُمَّ اقْضِ لِي فِي الخَمِيسِ خَمْساً

allāhumma iqḍī lī fī al-khamīs khamsan

O ALLAH, decree for me on Thursday five things

---

لا يَتَّسِعُ لَها إلاَّ كَرَمُكَ

lā yatasīʿu lahā illā karamuka

which none embraces but Thy generosity

---

وَلا يُطِيقُها إلاَّ نِعَمُكَ:

walā yuṭīquhā illā niʿamuka

and none supports but Thy favours:

---

سَلامَةً أَقْوى بِها عَلَى طاعَتِكَ

salāmatan aqwá bihā ʿalá ṭāʿatika

health through which I may have the strength to obey Thee,

---

وَعِبادَةً أَسْتَحِقُّ بِها جَزِيلَ مَثُوبَتِكَ،

waʿibādah an astaḥiqqo bihā jazīl mathūbatik

worship by which I may deserve Thy plentiful reward,

---

وَسَعَةً فِي الْحالِ مِنَ الرِّزْقِ الْحَلالِ،

wa saʿatan fil hal mina al-rizqi al-halal

plenty in my state through lawful provision,

---

وَأَنْ تُؤْمِنَنِي فِي مَواقِفِ الْخَوْفِ بِأَمْنِكَ،

wa ʾan tuʾminani fī mawāqifi al-khawf biʾamnik

that Thou makest me secure in the places of fear through Thy security,

---

وَتَجْعَلَنِي مِنْ طَوارِقِ الْهُمُومِ وَالْغُمُومِ فِي حِصْنِكَ،

wa tajʿalani min ṭawāriqi al-humūmi wal-ghumūmi fī ḥiṣnik

and placest me in Thy fortress against the striking of worries and sorrows!

---

صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ،

ṣalli ʿalā muḥammad wa ālih

Bless MUHAMMAD and his Household,

---

وَاجْعَل تَوَسُّلِي بِهِ شافِعَاً يَوْمَ الْقِيامَةِ نافِعاً،

wa-jaʿal tawassuli bih shāfiʿan yawmal-qiyāmah nāfiʿa

and make my seeking his mediation as an intercessor give profit on the Day of Resurrection!

---

إنَّكَ أَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ.

'innaka anta 'arhamu alrrahimīn

Surely Thou art the Most Merciful of the merciful!
