اَللَّهُمَّ وَأَتْبَاعُ الرُّسُلِ وَمُصَدِّقُوهُمْ

allāhumma wa atbāʿu al-rusuli wa muṣaddiqūhum

O God, as for the followers of the messengers and those of the people

---

مِنْ أَهْلِ الاَرْضِ بِالْغَيْبِ عِنْدَ مُعَارَضَةِ الْمُعَـانِدينَ لَهُمْ

min ahli al-arḍi bil-ghaybi ʿinda muʿāradhati al-muʿānidīna lahum

of the earth who attested to them unseen (while the obstinate resisted them

---

بِالتَّكْذِيبِ وَالاشْتِيَاقِ إلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ بِحَقائِقِ الايْمَانِ .

bi al-takdhibi wa al-ishtiyāqi ilā al-mursalīna bi ḥaqāʾiqi al-īmān

through crying lies) - they yearned for the emissaries through the realities of faith

---

فِي كُلِّ دَهْر وَزَمَان أَرْسَلْتَ فِيْهِ رَسُولاً، وَأَقَمْتَ لاهْلِهِ دَلِيلاً،

fī kulli dahri wa zamān arsalta fīhi rasūlan, wa aqamta li-ahlīhi dalīlan

in every era and time in which Thou didst send a messenger and set up for the people a director

---

مِنْ لَدُنْ آدَمَ إلَى مُحَمَّد صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَآلِـهِ مِنْ أَئِمَّةِ الْهُـدَى،

min ladun adam ila muhammadin salla allahu 'alayhi wa alihi min aimmati al-huda

from the period of Adam down to Muhammad (God bless him and his Household) from among the imams of guidance

---

وَقَادَةِ أَهْـلِ التُّقَى عَلَى جَمِيعِهِمُ السَّلاَمُ،

wa qādati ahl al-taqwá ʿalá jamīʿihimu al-salām

and the leaders of the godfearing (upon them all be peace) -

---

فَاذْكُرْهُمْ مِنْكَ بِمَغْفِرَة وَرِضْوَان.

fa dh kurhum mink bimaghfirah wa ridhwan

remember them with forgiveness and good pleasure!

---

اَللَّهُمَّ وَأَصْحَابُ مُحَمَّد خَاصَّةً الَّـذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا الصَّحَابَةَ،

allāhumma wa asḥābu muḥammad khāṣṣatan alladhīna aḥsanū aṣ-ṣaḥābah

O God, and as for the Companions of Muhammad specifically, those who did well in companionship,

---

وَالَّذِينَ أَبْلَوْا الْبَلاَءَ الْحَسَنَ فِي نَصْرِهِ،

wa allaḏīna ablaw al-balāʾa al-ḥasan fī naṣrih

who stood the good test in helping him,

---

وَكَانَفُوهُ وَأَسْرَعُوا إلَى وِفَادَتِهِ وَسَابَقُوا إلَى دَعْوَتِهِ

wa kāna fūhu wa asraʿū ilā wifādatihi wa sābaqū ilā daʿwatih

---

واسْتَجَابُوا لَهُ حَيْثُ أَسْمَعَهُمْ حجَّةَ رِسَالاَتِهِ،

wa-istajābū lahū ḥaythu asmahum ḥajjata risālātih

responded to him when he made them hear his messages' argument,

---

وَفَارَقُوا الازْوَاجَ وَالاوْلادَ فِي إظْهَارِ كَلِمَتِهِ،

wa-fāraqū al-azwāja wal-awlāda fī iẓhāri kalimatihi

separated from mates and children in manifesting his word,

---

وَقَاتَلُوا الاباءَ وَ الابناءَ فِي تَثْبِيتِ نبُوَّتِهِ،

wa qātalu al'abā'a wa al'abnā'a fī tathbīti nubuwwatih

fought against fathers and sons in strengthening his prophecy,

---

وَانْتَصَرُوا بهِ وَمَنْ كَانُوا مُنْطَوِينَ عَلَى

wa antaṣarū bihī waman kānū munṭawīnan ʿalā

and through him gained victory; those who were wrapped in

---

مَحبَّتِهِ يَرْجُونَ تِجَارَةً لَنْ تَبُورَ فِي مَوَدَّتِهِ،

maḥabbatihī yarjūna tijāratan lan tabūra fī mawaddatih

affection for him, hoping for a commerce that comes not to naught (35:29) in love for him;

---

وَالّذينَ هَجَرَتْهُمُ العَشَائِرُ إذْ تَعَلَّقُوا بِعُرْوَتِهِ،

wa alladhīna hajaraṯhumu alʿashāʾiru idh taʿallaqū biʿurwatihim

those who were left by their clans when they clung to his handhold

---

وَانْتَفَتْ مِنْهُمُ الْقَرَاباتُ إذْ سَكَنُوا فِي ظلِّ قَرَابَتِهِ

wa 'intafat minhum al-qarābātu idh sakanū fī ẓilli qarābatih

and denied by their kinsfolk when they rested in the shadow of his kinship;

---

فَلاَ تَنْسَ لَهُمُ اللّهُمَّ مَا تَرَكُوا لَكَ وَفِيكَ،

fala tantass lahumu allahumma ma tarakuwa laka wa feeka

forget not, O God, what they abandoned for Thee and in Thee,

---

وَأَرْضِهِمْ مِنْ رِضْوَانِكَ وَبِمَا حَاشُوا الْخَلْقَ عَلَيْكَ،

wa-arḍihim min riḍwānik wa-bimā ḥāshū al-khalq ʿalayk

and make them pleased with Thy good pleasure for the sake of the creatures they drove to Thee

---

وَكَانُوا مَعَ رَسُولِكَ دُعَاةً لَكَ إلَيْكَ،

wa kānū maʿa rasūlika duʿātan laka ilayk

while they were with Thy Messenger, summoners to Thee for Thee.

---

وَاشكُرْهُمْ عَلَى هَجْرِهِمْ فِيْكَ دِيَارَ قَوْمِهِمْ،

wa ashkurhum ʿalā hajrihim fīka diyār qawmihim

Show gratitude to them for leaving the abodes of their people for Thy sake

---

وَخُرُوجِهِمْ مِنْ سَعَةِ الْمَعَاشِ إلَى ضِيْقِهِ،

wa khurujihim min sa'ati al-ma'ashi ila dhiqih

and going out from a plentiful livelihood to a narrow one,

---

وَمَنْ كَثَّرْتَ فِي إعْزَازِ دِيْنِـكَ مِنْ مَظْلُومِهِمْ.

wa man kathart(a) fī iʿzāzi dīnik(a) min maẓlūmihim

and [show gratitude to] those of them who became objects of wrongdoing and whom Thou multiplied in exalting Thy religion.

---

ألّهُمَّ وَأوْصِلْ إلَى التَّابِعِينَ لَهُمْ بِإحْسَان الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ :

allāhumma wa awsil ilā at-tābiʿīna lahum bi-iḥsān alladhīna yaqūlūna:

O God, and give to those who have done well in following the Companions, who say,

---

رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلاخْوَانِنَا الَّذِيْنَ سَبَقُونَا بِالاِيمَانِ خَيْرَ جَزَائِكَ،

rabbana ighfir lana wa-li-ikhwani-nalladhina sabaquna bi-al-imaani khayra jaza'ika

Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who went before us in faith (59:10), Thy best reward;

---

الَّذِينَ قَصَدُوا سَمْتَهُمْ، وَتَحَرَّوْا وِجْهَتَهُمْ، وَمَضَوْا عَلى شاكِلَتِهِمْ،

al-ladhīna qaṣadū samtahum, wa ṭaharraw wajhatahum, wa madhaw ʿalā shākilatihim

those who went straight to the Companions' road, sought out their course, and proceeded in their manner.

---

لَمْ يَثْنِهِمْ رَيْبٌ فِي بَصِيْرَتِهِمْ، وَلَمْ يَخْتَلِجْهُمْ شَكٌّ

lam yathnihim raybun fi basiratihim, walam yakhtalijhum shakkun

No doubt concerning their sure insight diverted them and no uncertainty shook them

---

فِي قَفْوِ آثَارِهِمْ وَالاِئْتِمَامِ بِهِدَايَةِ مَنَارِهِمْ،

fī qafwi āthārihim walāitmāmi bihidāyati manārihim،

from following in their tracks and being led by the guidance of their light.

---

مُكَانِفِينَ وَمُوَازِرِيْنَ لَهُمْ، يَدِيْنُونَ بِدِيْنِهِمْ، وَيَهْتَدُونَ بِهَدْيِهِمْ،

mukānifīna wa muwāzirīna lahum, yadīnūna bidīnihim, wa yahtadūna bihadyihim

As their assistants and supporters, they professed their religion, gained guidance through their guidance,

---

يَتَّفِقُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ، وَلاَ يَتَّهِمُونَهُمْ فِيمَا أدَّوْا إلَيْهِمْ.

yattafiqūna ʿalayhim, walā yattahimūnahum fīmā addawū ilayhim

came to agreement with them, and never accused them in what they passed on to them.

---

ألَّلهُمَّ وَصَلِّ عَلَى التّابِعِيْنَ مِنْ يَوْمِنَا هَذا إلى يَوْم الدِّينِ،

allāhumma wa ṣalli ʿalā al-tābiʿīna min yawminā hādhā ilá yawm al-dīn

O God, and bless the Followers, from this day of ours to the Day of Doom,

---

وَعَلَى أزْوَاجِهِمْ، وَعَلَى ذُرِّيَّاتِهِمْ،

wa ʿalā azwājihim, wa ʿalā dhurriyyātihim

their wives, their offspring,

---

وَعَلَى مَنْ أَطَاعَكَ مِنْهُمْ صَلاْةً تَعْصِمُهُمْ بِهَامِنْ مَعْصِيَتِكَ،

wa ʿalā man aṭāʿaka minhum ṣalātan taʿṣimuhum bihāmīn maʿṣiyatik

and those among them who obey Thee, with a blessing through which Thou wilt preserve them from disobeying Thee,

---

وَتَفْسَحُ لَهُمْ فِي رِيَاضِ جَنَّتِكَ، وَتَمْنَعُهُمْ بِهَا مِنْ كَيْدِ الشَيْطَانِ،

wa tafsahu lahum fi riyaḍi jannatika, wa tamnaʿuhum biha min kaydi al-shayṭan

make room for them in the plots of Thy Garden, defend them from the trickery of Satan,

---

وَتُعِينُهُمْ بِهَا عَلَى مَا اسْتَعَانُوكَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ بِرٍّ،

wa tuʿīnuhum bihā ʿalā mā istaʿānūka ʿalayhi min birrin

help them in the piety in which they seek help from Thee,

---

وَتَقِيهِمْ طَوَارِقَ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ إلاّ طَارِقاً يَطْرُقُ بِخَيْر،

wa taqīhim ṭawāriqa allayli wan-nahāri illā ṭāriqan yatruqu bikhayr

protect them from sudden events that come by night and day - except the events which come with good -

---

وَتَبْعَثُهُمْ بِهَا عَلَى اعْتِقَادِ حُسْنِ الرَّجَـاءِ لَكَ،

wa tabʿathuhum biha ʿalā iʿtiqād husni al-rajaʾi laka

and incite them to tie firmly the knot of good hope in Thee,

---

وَالطَّمَعِ فِيمَا عِنْدَكَ، وَتَرْكِ النُّهَمَةِ فِيمَا تَحْويهِ

wa al-tamaʿi fi ma ʿindaka, wa tarki al-nuhmata fi ma tahwiih

desire what is with Thee, and refrain from ill thoughts [toward Thee] because of what

---

أيْدِي الْعِبَادِ لِتَرُدَّهُمْ إلَى الرَّغْبَةِ إلَيْكَ وَالرَّهْبَةِ مِنْكَ،

'aydi al-'ibadi litarddahum ila al-raghbati ilayka wal-rrahbati minka

the hands of Thy servants' hold. Thus Thou mayest restore them to beseeching Thee and fearing Thee,

---

وَتُزَهِّدُهُمْ فِي سَعَةِ العَاجِلِ وَتُحَبِّبُ إلَيْهِمُ

wa tuzahhiduhum fi sa'ati al-'ajili wa tuhabbibu ilayhimu

induce them to renounce the plenty of the immediate, make them love to

---

الْعَمَلَ لِلاجِلِ، وَالاسْتِعْدَادَ لِمَا بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ وَتُهَوِّنَ عَلَيْهِمْ

al-ʿamalal-lilajli, wāl-istiʿdāda limā baʿdal-mawti watu-hawwina ʿalayhim

work for the sake of the deferred and prepare for what comes after death, make easy for them

---

كُلَّ كَرْب يَحُلُّ بِهِمْ يَوْمَ خُـرُوجِ الانْفُسِ مِنْ أَبْدَانِهَا

kullu karbin yahullu bihim yawma khurooji al-anfusi min abdaniha

every distress that comes to them on the day when souls take leave from bodies,

---

وَتُعَافِيَهُمْ مِمَّا تَقَعُ بِهِ الْفِتْنَةُ مِنْ مَحْذُورَاتِهَا،

wa tuʿāfiyahum mimmā taqaʿu bihi al-fitnatu min maḥḏūrātihā

release them from that which brings about the perils of temptation

---

وَكَبَّةِ النَّارِ وَطُولِ الْخُلُودِ فِيهَا،

wa kabbaṭi al-nāri wa ṭūli al-khulūdi fīhā

and being thrown down in the Fire and staying forever within it,

---

وَتُصَيِّرَهُمْ إلَى أَمْن مِنْ مَقِيلِ الْمُتَّقِينَ .

wa tusaʿyirahum ila amnin min maqil al-muttaqin

and take them to security, the resting place of the godfearing.
