His Supplication On The Day Of Sacrifice And On Friday
Duaa
اللَّهُمَّ هَذَا يَوْمٌ مُبَارَكٌ مَيْمُونٌ
allāhumma hādhā yawmun mubārakun maymūnun
O God, this is a blessed and fortunate day,
وَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ فِيهِ مُجْتَمِعُونَ فِي أَقْطَارِ أَرْضِكَ،
wa al-muslimūna fīhi mujtamiʿūna fī aqṭāri arḍika
within which the Muslims are gathered in the quarters of Thy earth.
يَشْهَدُ السَّائِلُ مِنْهُمْ وَ الطَّالِبُ وَ الرَّاغِبُ وَ الرَّاهِبُ
yashhadu al-sā'ilu minhum wa al-ṭālibu wa al-rāghibu wa al-rāhibu
Among them are present the asker, the seeker, the beseecher, the fearful,
وَ أَنْتَ النَّاظِرُ فِي حَوَائِجِهِمْ
wa anta alnāẓiru fī ḥawāʾijihim
while Thou art looking upon their needs.
فَأَسْأَلُكَ بِجُودِكَ وَ كَرَمِكَ وَ هَوَانِ مَا سَأَلْتُكَ عَلَيْكَ
fa-as'aluka bi-joodika wa karamika wa hawani ma sa'alutaka 'alayk
So I ask Thee by Thy munificence and generosity and easy upon Thee is what I ask Thee!
أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ
an tuṣalliya ʿalā muḥammadin wa ālihi
- that Thou blessest Muhammad and his Household
وَ أَسْأَلُكَ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا بِأَنَّ لَكَ الْمُلْكَ وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدَ،
wa as'aluka allahumma rabbana bi-anna laka al-mulka wa laka al-hamda
And I ask Thee, O God, our Lord -for Thine is the kingdom and Thine is the praise
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ الْحَنَّانُ الْمَنَّانُ
lā ilāha illā anta, al-ḥalīmu al-karīmu al-ḥannānu al-mannānu
there is no god but Thou,the Clement, the Generous,the All-loving, the All-kind,
ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَ الْإِكْرَامِ، بَدِيعُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْأَرْضِ،
dhū al-jalāl wa al-ikrām, badīʿu al-samāwāt wa al-ʾarḍ
Possessor of majesty and munificence,Originator of the heavens and the earth
، مَهْمَا قَسَمْتَ بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
, ma hm a qasamta bayna ʿib a dik al-muʾminin
whenever Thou apportionest among Thy faithful servants
مِنْ خَيْرٍ أَوْ عَافِيَةٍ أَوْ بَرَكَةٍ أَوْ هُدًى أَوْ عَمَلٍ بِطَاعَتِكَ
min khayrin aw ʿāfiyah aw barakah aw hudan aw ʿamalin bi-ṭāʿatika
good, well being, blessing, guidance, works in obedience to Thee,
،أَوْ خَيْرٍ تَمُنُّ بِهِ عَلَيْهِمْ تَهْدِيهِمْ بِهِ إِلَيْكَ
'aw khayrin tamunnu bihi 'alayhim tahdiyhim bihi 'ilayka
or good through which Thou art kind to them by guiding them to Thee,
أَوْ تَرْفَعُ لَهُمْ عِنْدَكَ دَرَجَةً
aw tarfaʿu lahum ʿindaka darajah
or raisest them up a degree with Thee,
، أَوْ تُعْطِيهِمْ بِهِ خَيْراً مِنْ خَيْرِ الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ
, ʾaw tuʿṭīhim bihi khayran min khayri al-dunyā wa al-ākhirah
or givest them the good of this world or the next,
.أَنْ تُوَفِّرَ حَظِّي وَ نَصِيبِي مِنْهُ
ʾan tuwaffira ḥazẓī wa naṣībī minhu
that Thou givest me amply my share and allotment of it.
وَ أَسْأَلُكَ اللَّهُمَّ بِأَنَّ
wa as'aluka allahumma bi-anna..
And I ask Thee, O God -
,لَكَ الْمُلْكَ وَ الْحَمْدَ
laka al-mulk wa al-hamd
for Thine is the kingdom and the praise;
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ
lā ʾilāha ʾillā anta
there is no god but Thou -
أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ
an tuṣalliya ʿalā muḥammadin
that Thou blessest Muhammad
عَبْدِكَ وَ رَسُولِكَ
ʿabdika wa rasulika
Thy servant and Thy messenger,
وَ حَبِيبِكَ وَ صِفْوَتِكَ
wa ḥabībika wa ṣifwatika
Thy beloved and Thy selected friend,
,وَ خِيَرَتِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ
wa khayrati-ka min khalqi-ka
Thy chosen from among Thy creation,
وَ عَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَبْرَارِ الطَّاهِرِينَ الْأَخْيَارِ
wa ʿalā āli muḥammad al-abrār al-ṭāhirīn al-akhyār
and the Household of Muhammad, the pious, the pure, the chosen,
,صَلَاةً لَا يَقْوَى عَلَى إِحْصَائِهَا إِلَّا أَنْتَ
ṣalātan lā yaqwā ʿalā iḥṣāʾihā illā anta
with a blessing no one has strength to count but Thou,
وَ أَنْ تُشْرِكَنَا فِي
wa an tushrikana fi
that Thou associatest us with
صَالِحِ مَنْ دَعَاكَ فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ
ṣāliḥi man daʿāka fī hādhā al-yawm
the most righteous of those who supplicate Thee today
مِنْ عِبَادِكَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
min ʿibādika al-muʾminīn
of Thy faithful servants
،يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ
yā rabba al-ʿālamīn
- O Lord of the worlds!—
,وَ أَنْ تَغْفِرَ لَنَا وَ لَهُمْ
wa an taghfira lana wa lahum
and that Thou forgivest us and them!
.إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
ʾinnaka ʿalā kulli shay'in qadīr
Surely Thou art powerful over everything (3:26).
اللَّهُمَّ إِلَيْكَ تَعَمَّدْتُ بِحَاجَتِي
allahumma ilayka taʿammadtu bihajati
O God, toward Thee I aim with my need
وَ بِكَ أَنْزَلْتُ الْيَوْمَ فَقْرِي
wa bika anzaltu al-yawma faqri
and before Thee today I set my poverty,
،وَ فَاقَتِي وَ مَسْكَنَتِي
wa faqatī wa maskanatī
my neediness, my misery,
وَ إِنِّي بِمَغْفِرَتِكَ وَ رَحْمَتِكَ أَوْثَقُ مِنِّي بِعَمَلِي
wa inni bimaghfiratika wa rahmatika awthaqu minni biamali
for I have more trust in Thy forgiveness and Thy mercy than in my own works.
وَ لَمَغْفِرَتُكَ وَ رَحْمَتُكَ أَوْسَعُ مِنْ ذُنُوبِي
wa lamaghfiratuka wa rahmatuka awsau min dhunubi
Thy forgiveness and Thy mercy are vaster than my sins.
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
faṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammadin
So bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
، وَ تَوَلَّ قَضَاءَ كُلِّ حَاجَةٍ هِيَ لِي
wa tawalla qadha'a kulli hajah hiya li
and attend to the accomplishment of every need of mine through
بِقُدْرَتِكَ عَلَيْهَا
bi-qudratika 'alayha
Thy power over it,
، وَ تَيْسِيرِ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْكَ
, wa taysīri dhālika ʿalayka
its easiness for Thee,
وَ بِفَقْرِي إِلَيْكَ
wa bi-faqri ilayka
my poverty toward Thee,
وَ غِنَاكَ عَنِّي
wa ghināka ʿannī
and Thy freedom from need for me!
، فَإِنِّي لَمْ أُصِبْ خَيْراً قَطُّ إِلَّا مِنْكَ
fa'inni lam usib khayran qattu illa minka
I will come upon no good whatsoever unless through Thee,
، وَ لَمْ يَصْرِفْ عَنِّي سُوءاً قَطُّ أَحَدٌ غَيْرُكَ
wa lam yasrif ʿanni suʾan qattu aḥadun ghayruka
no one other than Thou will turn any evil away from me,
وَ لَا أَرْجُو لِأَمْرِ
wa lā arjū li-amri
and I have hope in none but Thee for my affair
آخِرَتِي وَ دُنْيَايَ سِوَاكَ
ākhiratī wa dunyāyā siwāka
in the next world and in this world.
اللَّهُمَّ مَنْ تَهَيَّأَ وَ تَعَبَّأَ
allāhumma man tahayyā' wa ta'abbā'ah
O God, if anyone has ever arranged, made ready,
وَ أَعَدَّ وَ اسْتَعَدَّ
wa aʿadda wa istaʿadda
prepared, and drawn himself up
لِوِفَادَةٍ إِلَى مَخْلُوقٍ
li-wifādatin ilā makhluqin
to be received by a creature
رَجَاءَ رِفْدِهِ وَ نَوَافِلِهِ وَ طَلَبَ نَيْلِهِ وَ جَائِزَتِهِ
rajā'a rifdihī wa nawāfilihī wa ṭalaba naylihī wa jā'izatihī
in hope of his support and awards,
فَإِلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ كَانَتِ الْيَوْمَ
fa'ilayka ya mawlaya kānatil yawma
then today toward Thee, my Master,
تَهْيِئَتِي وَ تَعْبِئَتِي
tahyiʾatī wa taʿbiʾatī
is my arrangement, my making ready,
وَ إِعْدَادِي وَ اسْتِعْدَادِي
wa-iʿdādī wa-istiʿdādī
my preparation, and my drawing up
رَجَاءَ عَفْوِكَ وَ رِفْدِكَ
rajāʾa ʿafwik(a) wa rifdik(a)
in hope of Thy pardon and support
وَ طَلَبَ نَيْلِكَ وَ جَائِزَتِكَ
wa ṭalaba naylika wa jā'izatika
and in seeking to attain to Thee and Thy prize.
اللَّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allāhumma faṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammadin
O God, so bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
وَ لَا تُخَيِّبِ الْيَوْمَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ رَجَائِي،
wa lā tukhayyibi al-yawma dhālika min rajā'ī
and disappoint not my hope in that today!
يَا مَنْ لَا يُحْفِيهِ سَائِلٌ
yā man lā yuḥfīhī sāʾilun
O He who is not troubled by those who ask
وَ لَا يَنْقُصُهُ نَائِلٌ
wa lā yanqusuhu nā'ilun
and diminished by those who attain their desire!
فَإِنِّي لَمْ آتِكَ ثِقَةً
fa'inni lam atika thiqahtan
I come not before Thee trusting
مِنِّي بِعَمَلٍ صَالِحٍ قَدَّمْتُهُ
minnee bi'amalin saalihin qaddamtu-hu
in a righteous work I have sent ahead,
وَ لَا شَفَاعَةِ مَخْلُوقٍ رَجَوْتُهُ
walā shafāʿati makhlooqin rajawtuhu
nor in the intercession of any creature in whom I have hope,
إِلَّا شَفَاعَةَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ
illā shafāʿata muḥammadin wa ahl baytih
except the intercession of Muhammad and the Folk of his House
عَلَيْهِ وَ عَلَيْهِمْ سَلَامُكَ
ʿalayhi wa ʿalayhim salāmuka
(upon him and upon them be Thy peace).
أَتَيْتُكَ مُقِرّاً بِالْجُرْمِ وَ الْإِسَاءَةِ إِلَى نَفْسِي
ataytuka muqirran biljurm wal'isaaiati ilaa nafsi
I come to Thee admitting sin and evildoing toward myself.
أَتَيْتُكَ أَرْجُو عَظِيمَ عَفْوِكَ
ataytuka arjuu aẓeema afwik
I come to Thee hoping for Thy abounding pardon
الَّذِي عَفَوْتَ بِهِ عَنِ الْخَاطِئِينَ
alla th ee ʿafawta bihi ʿani al-khāṭiʾīn
through which Thou hast pardoned the offenders,
ثُمَّ لَمْ يَمْنَعْكَ طُولُ عُكُوفِهِمْ عَلَى عَظِيمِ الْجُرْمِ
thumma lam yamnaʿka ṭūlu ʿukūfihim ʿalā ʿaẓīmil jurm
while their long persistence in dreadful sin did not prevent Thee
أَنْ عُدْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِالرَّحْمَةِ وَ الْمَغْفِرَةِ
'an 'udta 'alayhim biraḥmati wal-maghfirah
from returning toward them with mercy and forgiveness!
فَيَا مَنْ رَحْمَتُهُ وَاسِعَةٌ
fayā man raḥmatuhu wāsiʿah
O He whose mercy is wide
وَ عَفْوُهُ عَظِيمٌ
wa ʿafwuhu ʿaẓīm
and whose pardon is abounding!
، يَا عَظِيمُ يَا عَظِيمُ
yā ʿaẓīmu, yā ʿaẓīmu
O All-mighty! O All-mighty!
يَا كَرِيمُ يَا كَرِيمُ
yā karīmu, yā karīmu
O All-generous! O All-generous!
صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
ṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammadin.
Bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
وَ عُدْ عَلَيَّ بِرَحْمَتِكَ
wa ʿud ʿalayya biraḥmatika
return toward me through Thy mercy,
وَ تَعَطَّفْ عَلَيَّ بِفَضْلِكَ
wa taʿattaf ʿalayya bifadlika
be tender toward me through Thy bounty,
وَ تَوَسَّعْ عَلَيَّ بِمَغْفِرَتِكَ
wa tawassal ʿalayya bimaghfiratika
and spread out Thy forgiveness upon me!
. اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ هَذَا الْمَقَامَ لِخُلَفَائِكَ وَ أَصْفِيَائِكَ
allāhumma innahā al-maqāma li-khulafā'ika wa asfiyā'ika
O God, this station belongs to Thy vicegerents, Thy chosen,
وَ مَوَاضِعَ أُمَنَائِكَ
wa mawāḍiʿa ʾumanāʾika
while the places of Thy trusted ones
فِي الدَّرَجَةِ الرَّفِيعَةِ الَّتِي اخْتَصَصْتَهُمْ بِهَا
fī al-darajah al-rafīʿah allatī ikhtashaṣtahum bihā
in the elevated degree which Thou hast singled out for them
قَدِ ابْتَزُّوهَا
qadi ibtazzuha
have been forcibly stripped!
وَ أَنْتَ الْمُقَدِّرُ لِذَلِكَ
wa anta almuqaddiru lidthalik
But Thou art the Ordainer of that -
لَا يُغَالَبُ أَمْرُكَ
lā yughālabu amruka
Thy command is not overcome,
وَ لَا يُجَاوَزُ الْمَحْتُومُ مِنْ تَدْبِيرِكَ
wa laa yujāwizu al-mahtūmu min tadbīrika
the inevitable in Thy governing is not overstepped!
كَيْفَ شِئْتَ وَ أَنَّى شِئْتَ
kayfa shi'ta wa anna shi'ta
However Thou willest and whenever Thou willest!
وَ لِمَا أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ
wa lima anta a'lamu bihi
In that which Thou knowest best,
غَيْرُ مُتَّهَمٍ عَلَى خَلْقِكَ وَ لَا لِإِرَادَتِكَ
ghayru muttahamin ʿala khalqik wa la li-iradatik
Thou art not accused for Thy creation or Thy will!
حَتَّى عَادَ صِفْوَتُكَ وَ خُلَفَاؤُكَ
ḥattá ʿāda ṣifwatuka wa khulafāʾuka
Then Thy selected friends, Thy vicegerents,
مَغْلُوبِينَ مَقْهُورِينَ مُبْتَزِّينَ
maghloobiy-na maqhoo-ree-na mubtaz-zeen-a
were overcome, vanquished, forcibly stripped;
يَرَوْنَ حُكْمَكَ مُبَدَّلًا
yarawn ḥukmaka mubaddalan
they see Thy decree replaced,
وَ كِتَابَكَ مَنْبُوذاً
wa kitābaka manbūẓan
Thy Book discarded,
، وَ فَرَائِضَكَ مُحَرَّفَةً عَنْ جِهَاتِ أَشْرَاعِكَ
wa fara'idaka muḥarrafaṭan ʿan jihāti ash-rāʿik
Thy obligations distorted from the aims of Thy laws,
وَ سُنَنَ نَبِيِّكَ مَتْرُوكَةً
wa sunna nabiyika matruukah
and the Sunna of Thy Prophet abandoned!
اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ أَعْدَاءَهُمْ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَ الْآخِرِينَ
allāhumma al-ʿan ʾaʿdāʾahum min al-ʾawwalīna wa al-ʾākhirīn
O God, curse their enemies among those of old and the later folk,
وَ مَنْ رَضِيَ بِفِعَالِهِمْ
wa man raḍiya bifiaʿalihim
and all those pleased with their acts,
وَ أَشْيَاعَهُمْ وَ أَتْبَاعَهُمْ
wa ashyaʾahum wa atbaʿahum
and their adherents and followers!
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammadin
O God, bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ
ʾinnaka ḥamīdun majīdun
(surely Thou art All-laudable, All-glorious)
كَصَلَوَاتِكَ وَ بَرَكَاتِكَ وَ تَحِيَّاتِكَ
ka ṣalāwatika wa barakātika wa taḥiyyātik
like Thy blessing, benedictions, and salutations
عَلَى أَصْفِيَائِكَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَ آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
ʿalā ʾaṣfīyāʾika ibrāhīma wa āli ibrāhīma
upon Thy chosen Abraham and the people of Abraham!
وَ عَجِّلِ الْفَرَجَ
wa ʿajjil al-faraj
And hasten for them relief,
وَ الرَّوْحَ وَ النُّصْرَةَ وَ التَّمْكِينَ وَ التَّأْيِيدَ لَهُمْ
wa ar-roḥa wa an-nuṣrata wa at-tamkīna wa at-ta'yyīda lahum
ease, help, strengthening,and confirmation!
اللَّهُمَّ وَ اجْعَلْنِي
allāhumma wajʿalnī..
O God, and make me
مِنْ أَهْلِ التَّوْحِيدِ
min ahlī ʾattawḥīd
one of the people who profess Thy Unity,
وَ الْإِيمَانِ بِكَ
wa al-īmāni bika
have faith in Thee,
وَ التَّصْدِيقِ بِرَسُولِكَ
wa at-taṣdīqi bi rasūlika
and attest to Thy Messenger
وَ الْأَئِمَّةِ الَّذِينَ حَتَمْتَ طَاعَتَهُمْ
wa al-a'immati alladhina hattamta ta'atahum
and the Imams toward whom Thou hast enjoined obedience,
مِمَّنْ يَجْرِي ذَلِكَ بِهِ وَ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ
mimman yajrī dhalika bihi wa ʿalá yadayhi
and one of those through whom and at whose hands this takes place!
آمِينَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ
ʾāmīn rabbi al-ʿālamīn
Amen, Lord of the worlds!
اللَّهُمَّ لَيْسَ يَرُدُّ غَضَبَكَ إِلَّا حِلْمُكَ
allāhumma laysa yaruddu ghaḍabaka illā ḥilmuka
O God, nothing repels Thy wrath but Thy clemency,
، وَ لَا يَرُدُّ سَخَطَكَ إِلَّا عَفْوُكَ
, wa lā yaruddu sakhatuka illā 'afwuka
nothing repels Thy displeasure but Thy pardon,
وَ لا يُجِيرُ مِنْ عِقَابِكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَتُكَ
wa lā yujīru min ʿiqābika illā raḥmatuka
nothing grants sanctuary from Thy punishment but Thy mercy,
وَ لَا يُنْجِينِي مِنْكَ
wa lā yunjinī minka
and nothing will deliver me from Thee
إِلَّا التَّضَرُّعُ إِلَيْكَ وَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ
illā at-taḍarruʿu ʾilayka wa bayna yadayka
except pleading to Thee before Thee,
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
faṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammadin
so bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
وَ هَبْ لَنَا يَا إِلَهِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ فَرَجاً
wa hab lana ya ilahi min ladunka farajan
and give us on Thy part, my God, relief
بِالْقُدْرَةِالَّتِي بِهَا تُحْيِي أَمْوَاتَ الْعِبَادِ
bi al-qudrah al-lati biha tuhyi amwat al-'ibad
by means of the power through which Thou bringest the dead servants to life
وَ بِهَا تَنْشُرُ مَيْتَ الْبِلَادِ
wa bihā tanshuru maytal bilād
and revivest the dead lands.
. وَ لَا تُهْلِكْنِي يَا إِلَهِي غَمّاً
wa lā tuhliknī yā ilāhī ghamman
Destroy me not through gloom, my God,
حَتَّى تَسْتَجِيبَ لِي
ḥattā tastajība lī
before Thou respondest to me
وَ تُعَرِّفَنِي الْإِجَابَةَ فِي دُعَائِي
wa tuʿarrafanī al-ijābata fī duʿāʾī
and givest me the knowledge of Thy response to my supplication!
وَ أَذِقْنِي طَعْمَ الْعَافِيَةِ إِلَى مُنْتَهَى أَجَلِي
wa adhqnī ṭaʿmal-ʿāfiya ilā muntaḥā ajalī
Let me taste the flavour of well-being to the end of my term!
وَ لَا تُشْمِتْ بِي عَدُوِّي
wa lā tushmit biy ʿaduwwi
And let not my enemy gloat over me,
وَ لَا تُمَكِّنْهُ مِنْ عُنُقِي
wa lā tumakkinnhu min ʿunuqī
place not my neck in his power,
وَ لَا تُسَلِّطْهُ عَلَيَّ
wa lā tusallithu ʿalayya
and give him not authority over me!
إِلَهِي إِنْ رَفَعْتَنِي
ilāhī in rafaʿtanī
My God, if Thou raisest me up,
فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَضَعُنِي
faman dhā al-ladhī yaḍaʿunī
who is there to push me down?
وَ إِنْ وَضَعْتَنِي
wa in wadaʿtanī
If Thou pushest me down,
فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَرْفَعُنِي
faman dha alladhi yarfa`uni
who is there to raise me up?
وَ إِنْ أَكْرَمْتَنِي
wa in akramtani
If Thou honourest me,
فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُهِينُنِي
faman dhā alladhī yuhīnunī
who is there to humiliate me?
وَ إِنْ أَهَنْتَنِي
wa in ahantanī
If Thou humiliatest me,
فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُكْرِمُنِي
faman dhā alladhī yukrimunī
who is there to honour me?
وَ إِنْ عَذَّبْتَنِي
wa in ʿaẓẓabtanī
If Thou chastisest me,
فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَرْحَمُنِي
faman dhā alladhī yarhamunī
who is there to have mercy upon me?
وَ إِنْ أَهْلَكْتَنِي
wa in ahlaktani
If Thou destroyest me,
فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَعْرِضُ لَكَ فِي عَبْدِكَ
man dhā alladhī yaʿriḍu laka fī ʿabdika?
who is there to stand up for Thy servant against Thee
أَوْ يَسْأَلُكَ عَنْ أَمْرِهِ
ʾaw yasʾalu-ka ʿan ʾamri-hi
or ask Thee about his affair?
وَ قَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ فِي حُكْمِكَ ظُلْمٌ
wa qad 'alimtu annahu laysa fi hukmika dhulm
But I know that there is no wrong in Thy decree
وَ لَا فِي نَقِمَتِكَ عَجَلَةٌ
wa lā fī naqimati-ka ʿajalah
and no hurry in Thy vengeance.
وَ إِنَّمَا يَعْجَلُ مَنْ يَخَافُ الْفَوْتَ
wa innama yaʿjalu man yakhafu al-fawt
He alone hurries who fears to miss,
وَ إِنَّمَا يَحْتَاجُ إِلَى الظُّلْمِ الضَّعِيفُ
wa inna ma yah'taju ila al-thulmi al-dha'if
and only the weak needs to wrong.
وَ قَدْ تَعَالَيْتَ يَا إِلَهِي
wa qad taʿālayta yā ilāhī
But Thou art exalted, my God,
عَنْ ذَلِكَ عُلُوّاً كَبِيراً
ʿan dhalika ʿuluwwan kabeeran
high indeed above all that!
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammadin
O God, bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
وَ لَا تَجْعَلْنِي لِلْبَلَاءِ غَرَضاً
wa lā tajʿalnī lil-balāʾi gharadhan
make me not the target of affliction
، وَ لَا لِنَقِمَتِكَ نَصَباً
wa lā li-naqimati-ka naṣaban
nor the object of Thy vengeance,
وَ مَهِّلْنِي، وَ نَفِّسْنِي
wa mahhilnī, wa naffisnī
respite me, comfort me,
وَ أَقِلْنِي عَثْرَتِي
wa aqilni ʿathrati
release me from my stumble,
وَ لَا تَبْتَلِيَنِّي بِبَلَاءٍ
wa lā tabtalīnī bi-balā'in
and afflict me not with an affliction
عَلَى أَثَرِ بَلَاءٍ
ʿalā athari balāʾin
in the wake of an affliction,
فَقَدْ تَرَى ضَعْفِي
fa qad tarā ḍaʿfī
for Thou hast seen my frailty,
وَ قِلَّةَ حِيلَتِي
wa qillata ḥīlatī
the paucity of my stratagems,
وَ تَضَرُّعِي إِلَيْكَ
wa taḍarruʿī ilayka
and my pleading to Thee!
أَعُوذُ بِكَ اللَّهُمَّ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ غَضَبِكَ
'a'ūdhu bi-ka allāhumma al-yawma min ghaḍabika
I seek refuge in Thee today, my God, from Thy wrath,
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ أَعِذْنِي.
faṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa ālihī wa aʿiẓnī
so bless Muhammad and his Household and give me refuge!
، وَ أَسْتَجِيرُ بِكَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ
wa astajīru bika al-yawma min sakhatika
I seek sanctuary in Thee today from Thy displeasure,
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ أَجِرْنِي
fasalli 'ala muhammadin wa alihi wa ajirni
so bless Muhammad and his Household, and give me sanctuary!
وَ أَسْأَلُكَ أَمْناً مِنْ عَذَابِكَ
wa as'aluka amnan min adhabika
I ask Thee security from Thy chastisement,
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ آمِنِّي
faṣallī ʿalā muḥammad wa ālih, wa āminnī
so bless Muhammad and his Household, and give me security!
وَ أَسْتَهْدِيكَ
wa astahdīka
I seek guidance from Thee,
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ اهْدِنِي
faṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa ālihī wa ahdinī
so bless Muhammad and his Household and guide me!
وَ أَسْتَنْصِرُكَ
wa astansiruka
I seek help from Thee,
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ انْصُرْنِي
faṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa ālih, wa anṣurni.
so bless Muhammad and his Household and help me!
وَ أَسْتَرْحِمُكَ
wa astarhimuka
I ask Thee for mercy,
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ ارْحَمْنِي
fa salli ʿalā muḥammadin wa ālih, wa rḥamnī
so bless Muhammad and his Household and have mercy upon me!
وَ أَسْتَكْفِيكَ
wa astakfīka
I seek sufficiency from Thee,
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ اكْفِنِي
faṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa ālihi, wa ikfinī
so bless Muhammad and his Household and suffice me!
وَ أَسْتَرْزِقُكَ
wa astarziquka
I seek provision from Thee,
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ ارْزُقْنِي
faṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa ālih, wa arzuqnī
so bless Muhammad and his Household and provide for me!
وَ أَسْتَعِينُكَ
wa astaʿeenuka
I seek assistance from Thee,
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ أَعِنِّي
faṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa ālihī wa aʿinnī
so bless Muhammad and his Household and assist me!
وَ أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا سَلَفَ مِنْ ذُنُوبِي
wa astaghfiruka lima salafa min dhunubi
I pray forgiveness for my past sins,
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ اغْفِرْ لِي
faṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa ālih, wa ʾighfir lī
so bless Muhammad and his Household and forgive me!
وَ أَسْتَعْصِمُكَ
wa astaʿsimuka
I ask Thee to preserve me from sin,
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ اعْصِمْنِي
fasalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa ālih, wa iʿsimnī
so bless Muhammad and his Household and preserve me,
فَإِنِّي لَنْ أَعُودَ لِشَيْءٍ كَرِهْتَهُ مِنِّي إِنْ شِئْتَ ذَلِكَ
fa inni lan aʿūda li shay'in kariḥtahu minni in shi'thādhika
for I will not return to anything Thou dislikest from me, if Thou willest that!
يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبِّ، يَا حَنَّانُ يَا مَنَّانُ
yā rabbi yā rabbi, yā ḥannānu yā mannān
My Lord! My Lord! O All-loving! O All-kind!
يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَ الْإِكْرَامِ
yā dhā al-jalāli wa al-ikrām
O Possessor of majesty and munificence!
صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ
ṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa ālih
Bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَ اسْتَجِبْ لِي جَمِيعَ
wa-stajib li jamiʿa
and grant me everything
مَا سَأَلْتُكَ وَ طَلَبْتُ إِلَيْكَ
ma saaltuka wa talabtu ilayka
that I ask from Thee, seek from Thee,
وَ رَغِبْتُ فِيهِ إِلَيْكَ
wa raghibtu fiihi ilayka
and beseech from Thee!
وَ أَرِدْهُ وَ قَدِّرْهُ وَ اقْضِهِ وَ أَمْضِهِ
wa aridhu wa qaddirhu wa qdhih wa amdih
Will it, ordain it, decree it, and accomplish it!
وَ خِرْ لِي فِيمَا تَقْضِي مِنْه
wa khir li fi ma taqdi minhu
Give me good in that of it which Thou decreest!
وَ بَارِكْ لِي فِي ذَلِكَ
wa bārik lī fī dhālika
Bless me in that,
وَ تَفَضَّلْ عَلَيَّ بِهِ
wa tafadhdhal 'alayya bihi
be gratuitously bountiful toward me through it,
وَ أَسْعِدْنِي بِمَا تُعْطِينِي مِنْهُ
wa asʿidnī bimā tuʿṭīnī minhu
make me happy in that of it which Thou givest to me,
وَ زِدْنِي مِنْ فَضْلِكَ
wa zidni min fadlika
and increase me in Thy bounty
وَ سَعَةِ مَا عِنْدَكَ
wa saʿati mā ʿindaka
and the plenty of what is with Thee,
فَإِنَّكَ وَاسِعٌ كَرِيمٌ
fa-innaka waasiʿun kareemun
for Thou art Boundless, Generous!
وَ صِلْ ذَلِكَ بِخَيْرِ الْآخِرَةِ وَ نَعِيمِهَا
wa ṣil dhālika bi-khayr al-ākhira wa naʿīmihā
And link that to the good and the bliss of the next world,
يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ
yā ar-ḥama ar-rāḥimīn
O Most Merciful of the merciful!
تَدْعُو بِمَا بَدَا لَكَ، وَ تُصَلِّي عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ أَلْفَ مَرَّةٍ هَكَذَا كَانَ يَفْعَلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ
tadʿū bimā badā laka, wa tuṣallī ʿalā muḥammadin wa ālihī alfa marrahā kadhā kāna yaf
Then you supplicate as seems proper to you and you call down blessings on Muhammed and his Household one thousand times. this is what he used to do (upon him be peace).
