His Supplication For Himself And The People Under His Guardianship
Duaa
يامَنْ لاتَنْقَضِي عَجَائِبُ عَظَمَتِهِ،
yamann la tanqadi ʿaja'ibu ʿazhamatih
O He the wonders of whose mightiness will never end!
صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ،
ṣalli ʿalā muḥammad wa ālih
Bless Muhammad and his Household
وَاحْجُبْنَا عَنِ الالْحَادِ فِي عَظَمَتِكَ.
wa-aḥjubnā ʿani al-ilhādī fī ʿaẓamatika
and prevent us from deviation concerning Thy mightiness!
وَيَا مَنْ لاَ تَنْتَهِي مُدَّةُ مُلْكِهِ،
wa yā man lā tantahī muddatu mulkih
O He the term of whose kingdom will never cease!
صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ،
ṣalli ʿalā muḥammad wa ālihī
Bless Muhammad and his Household
وَأَعْتِقْ رِقَابَنَا مِنْ نَقِمَتِك.
wa'a'tiq riqa'bana min naqimati-ka
and release our necks from Thy vengeance!
وَيَا مَنْ لا تَفْنَى خَزَائِنُ رَحْمَتِهِ،
wa yā man lā tafnā khazā'inu raḥmatihi
O He the treasuries of whose mercy will never be exhausted!
صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ،
ṣallī ʿalā muḥammad wa ālih
Bless Muhammad and his Household
وَاجْعَلْ لَنا نَصِيباً فِي رَحْمَتِكَ.
wa-jʿal lana naṣīban fī raḥmatik
and appoint for us a portion of Thy mercy!
وَيَا مَنْ تَنْقَطِعُ دُونَ رُؤْيَتِهِ الابْصَارُ،
wa yā man tanqaṭiʿu dūna rūyatihi al-abṣārُ،
O He whom eyes fall short of seeing!
صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ،
ṣalli ʿalā muḥammad wa ʾālih
Bless Muhammad and his Household
وَأَدْنِنَا إلَى قُرْبِكَ.
wa ʾadnina ila qurbika
and bring us close to Thy nearness!
وَيَا مَنْ تَصْغُرُ عِنْدَ خَطَرِهِ الاخْطَارُ،
wa yā man taṣghuru ʿinda khaṭarihi al-aḫṭār
O He before whose greatness all great things are small!
صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ،
ṣallī ʿalā muḥammad wa-ālih
Bless Muhammad and his Household
وَكَرِّمْنَا عَلَيْكَ.
wa karrimnā ʿalayk
and give us honour with Thee!
وَيَا مَنْ تَظْهَرُ عِنْدَهُ بَوَاطِنُ الاخْبَارِ،
wayā man taẓharu ʿindahu bawāṭin al-akhbār
O He to whom all hidden tidings are manifest!
صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ،
ṣalli ʿalā muḥammad wa ālih
Bless Muhammad and his Household
وَلاَ تَفْضَحْنَا لَدَيْكَ.
walā tafḍaḥnā ladayka
and expose us not before Thee!
اللَّهُمَّ أَغْنِنَا عَنْ هِبَةِ الْوَهّابِيْنَ بِهِبَتِكَ،
allāhumma aghnina ʿan hibati al-wahhābīna bihibatika
O God, remove our need for the gifts of the givers through Thy gift,
وَاكْفِنَا وَحْشَةَ الْقَاطِعِين بِصِلَتِكَ ،
wākfinā waḥshata al-qāṭiʿīn bi ṣilatika
spare us the loneliness of those who break off through Thy joining,
حَتّى لا نَرْغَبَ إلَى أحَد مَعَ بَذْلِكَ،
ḥattá lā narghaba ʾilá ʾaḥad maʿa bazlik
that we may beseech no one along with Thy free giving,
وَلاَ نَسْتَوْحِشَ مِنْ أحَد مَعَ فَضْلِكَ
walā nastawḥiša min ʾaḥad maʿa faḍlika
that we may feel lonely at no one's absence along with Thy bounty!
اللهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ
allāhumma faṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa ālih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَكِدْ لَنَا وَلا تَكِدْ عَلَيْنَا،
wa kid lana wa la takid ʿalayna
scheme for us, not against us,
وَامْكُرْ لَنَا وَلاَ تَمْكُرْ بنَا،
wamkur lanā walā tamkur banā
devise to our benefit, not to our loss,
وَأدِلْ لَنَا وَلاَ تُدِلْ مِنّا.
wa adil lana wa la tudil minna
give the turn to prevail to us, not to others!
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ،
allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā muḥammad wa ālih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَقِنَا مِنْكَ، وَاحْفَظْنَا بِكَ، وَاهْدِنَا إلَيْكَ،
waqinā minka, waḥfiẓnā bika, wahdīnā ilayk
protect us from Thyself, safeguard us through Thyself, guide us to Thyself,
وَلاَ تُبَاعِدْنَا عَنْكَ إنّ مَنْ تَقِهِ يَسْلَمْ،
walā tubāʿidnā ʿanka inna man taqihī yaslam
and take us not far from Thyself! he whom Thou protectest stays safe,
وَمَنْ تَهْدِهِ يَعْلَمْ، وَمَنْ تُقَرِّبُهُ إلَيْكَ يَغْنَمْ.
wa man tahdihī yaʿlam, wa man tuqarribuhu ilayka yaghnam
he whom Thou guidest knows, and he whom Thou bringest near Thyself takes the spoils.
الّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ
allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā muḥammad wa ālih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household
وَاكْفِنَا حَدَّ نَوائِبِ الزَّمَانِ،
wakfinā ḥadda nawāʾibi al-zamān
and spare us the cutting edge of time's turning changes,
وَشَرَّ مَصَائِدِ الشّيطانِ وَمَرَارَةَ صَوْلَةِ السُّلْطَانِ.
wa sharra maṣāʾid al-shayṭān wa marārata ṣawlati al-sulṭān
the evil of Satan's snares, and the bitterness of the sovereign's aggression!
اللّهُمَّ إنَّما يَكْتَفِي الْمُكْتَفُونَ بِفَضْـل
allāhumma innamā yaktafī al-muktafūna bifaḍl
O God, the spared are spared only through the bounty
قُوَّتِكَ فَصَلِّ عَلَى محَمَّد وَآلِهِ ،وَاكْفِنَا
quwwatika faṣalli ʿalā muḥammad wa ālih, wakfinā
of Thy strength, so bless Muhammad and his Household, and spare us!
وَإنَّمَا يُعْطِي الْمُعْطُونَ مِنْ فَضْلِ جِدَتِكَ
wa innamā yuʿti al-muʿtuun min faḍli jidatika
The givers give only through the bounty of Thy wealth,
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ و اعطنا
fa salli `ala muhammad wa alihi wa 'atina
so bless Muhammad and his Household and give to us!
وَإنمَا يَهْتَدِي الْمُهْتَدُونَ بِنُورِ وَجْهِكَ
wa innamā yahdī al-muhtadūna binūri wajhika
The guided are guided only by the light of Thy face,
فَصَلِّ عَلَى محمّد وَآلِهِ وَاهْدِنَا .
faṣalli ʿalā muḥammad wa ālihi wa ahdi-nā
so bless Muhammad and his Household and guide us!
اللّهُمَّ إنّكَ مَنْ وَالَيْتَ لَمْ يَضْرُرْهُ خِذْلانُ الْخَاذِلِينَ،
allahumma innaka man waliyta lam yadurruhu khidhlanu al-khazileen
O God, he whom Thou befriendest will not be injured by the abandonment of the abandoners,
وَمَنْ أعْطَيْتَ لَمْ يَنْقُصْهُ مَنْـعُ الْمَانِعِينَ،
wa man aʿtayta lam yanqus-hu manʿu al-maniʿīn
he to whom Thou givest will not be diminished by the withholding of the withholders,
وَمَنْ هَدَيْتَ لَمْ يُغْوِهِ إضْلاَلُ المُضِلِّيْنَ.
wa-man hadayta lam yughwih iḍlalu al-muḍillīn
he whom Thou guidest will not be misled by the misguidance of the misguiders.
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ، وَامْنَعْنَا بِعِزَّكَ، مِنْ عِبَادِكَ
faṣalli ʿalā muḥammad wa ālih, wa amnaʿnā biʿizzika, min ʿibādik
So bless Muhammad and his Household, defend us from Thy servants
وَأغْنِنَا عَنْ غَيْرِكَ بِإرْفَادِكَ
waʾaghninā ʿan ghayrika biʾirfādika
through Thy might, free us from need for other than Thee through Thy support,
وَاسْلُكْ بِنَا سَبِيلَ الْحَقِّ بِـإرْشَادِكَ.
wasluk bina sabil alhaqq bi irshadik
and make us travel the path of the Truth through Thy right guidance!
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِـهِ وَاجْعَلْ سَلاَمَةَ قُلُوبِنَا
allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā muḥammad wa ālihi wajʿal salāmata qulūbinā
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household and put the soundness of our hearts
فِي ذِكْرِ عَظَمَتِكَ وَفَرَاغَ أبْدَانِنَا فِي شُكْرِ نِعْمَتِكَ
fī dhikri ʿaẓamatika wa farāgha abdāninā fī shukri niʿmatika
into the remembrance of Thy mightiness, the idleness of our bodies into giving thanks for Thy favour,
وَانْطِلاَقَ أَلْسِنَتِنَا فِي وَصْفِ مِنَّتِكَ.
wa-inṭilāqa ʾalsinatina fī waṣfi minnatika
and the flow of our tongues into the description of Thy kindness!
أللَهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ
allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā muḥammad wa ālihī
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household
وَاجْعَلْنَا مِنْ دُعَاتِكَ الدّاعِينَ إلَيْكَ
wajʿalna min duʿaatika addāʿīna ilayk
and make us one of Thy summoners who summon to Thee,
وَهُدَاتِكَ الدَّالّينَ عَلَيْكَ
wa hudatika al-dālīn ʿalayka
Thy guiders who direct to Thee,
وَمِنْ خَاصَّتِكَ الْخَاصِّينَ لَدَيْكَ
wa min khaṣṣatika al-khāṣṣīna ladayka
and Thy special friends whom Thou hast singled out!
يَا أرْحَمَ ألرَّاحِمِينَ .
yā ar-raḥmaan
O Most Merciful of the merciful!
